The President of the Methodist Conference of Great Britain has said that a faith which shies away from the issue of death is "neither real nor relevant" in today's world.
Yesterday Downing Street announced the appointment of the Reverend Jonathan Baker as Bishop of Ebbsfleet and the Reverend Norman Banks as the Bishop of Richborough, both of whom will be consecrated at a service at Southwark Cathedral on 16th June.
Part of their responsibility as episcopal visitors will be to ensure that “the integrity of differing beliefs and positions concerning the ordination of women to the priesthood should be mutually recognised and respected".

The Salvation Army is making final preparations to welcome the esteemed New York Staff Band for a week long visit to Ireland at the end of May. The band, under the leadership of Bandmaster Ronald Waiksnoris, last played in Belfast in 1999 and received a tremendous welcome, engaging the weekend audience in high calibre music, much loved gospel hymns, Salvation Army favourites and much more!
