Ordinations
Yesterday in St Flannan’s cathedral, Killaloe,the Bishop of Limerick & Killaloe ordained to the priesthood the Revd Lucy Green, who is a non–stipendiary curate in the cathedral group of parishes and on Thursday evening in St Lasarian’s cathedral, Old Leighlin, the Bishop of Cashel & Ossory will ordain to the priesthood the Revd Helen Oxley who serves in the Dunleckney union of parishes.

Institution

On Tuesday evening the Bishop of Down & Dromore will institute the Revd Stephen Smyth, curate of Ballyholme, to the grouped parishes of Kilmore and Inch.

C of I  Methodist Covenant anniversary service
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Church of Ireland – Methodist Covenant and this will be marked by a Songs of Praise Service in Christ Church cathedral, Dublin, on Thursday evening at 7.30pm. The hymns will be Wesleyan and the preacher will be a former President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Revd Donald Kerr. Admisson is free but tickets, which may be had from the cathedral, are required.

Mothers’ Union General Meeting in Wales

A number of representatives of Mothers’ Union from Ireland attended the Mothers’ Union General Meeting at Venue Cymru on the Promenade in Llandudno on Sat Juune 17.
During the Chief Executive’s presentation ‘Inspiring Members,’ the involvement of Mothers’ Union members in the Central Belfast Contact Centre was highlighted.

Members from Ireland on the Mothers’ Union Trustee Board: Rosemary Macartney (General Trustee); Ruth Mercer (Provincial President – All–Ireland; Roberta McKelvey (Trustee representing Provincial Presidents outside UK & Ireland)); Patsy Devoy (Unit Coordinator for Faith & Policy) and The Rt Revd Ken Clarke (Central Chaplain), Helen Clarke and Paddy Wallace were amongst those present.

An eve of meeting eucharist was so well supported that both Bangor and St Asaph’s cathedrals, and LLandudno parish church were filled to capacity. The Archbishop of Wales preached in Bangor were the celebrant was the bishop.

Family Fun Day at St. David’s Naas
Leinster Leader – St. David’s Church of Ireland, off North Main Street, Naas, hosted their second annual Family Fun Day on Saturday.This year the church celebrates 800 years as a place of worship. Last year, over 500 families passed through the gates of St. David’s Church of Ireland for the Family Fun Day.

Ex-Mayor takes the highest lay honour in Irish Methodism
