Media comment : US Anglican web site removes comment on Meath and Kildare

The Virtue on Line website has removed its report and comment on the recent withdrawal from the appointment to the bishopric of Meath and Kildare.

The announcement by the C of I Press Office of the withdrawal of the Archdeacon of Meath came after the circulation of a report on the Virtue on Line site which alleged adultery. Whether or not this caused matters to move in the direction they have is beyond confirmation. The matter already had been commented on in the Irish media but not to the same extent.

CNI was  informed last Sunday evening by a C of I spokesperson that there was a major inaccuracy in the Virtue report in respect of its allegation of adultery. CNI was informed that the relationship was not adulterous.

As is the established practice at CNI, reports are presented and their source identified to enable the discriminating reader to form their own evaluation and make further enquiries if they so wish.

Most certainly the news has had widespread circulation including the foremost Irish web site in the USA – Irish Central.

Several C of I clergy have already expressed their concerns concerning the procedures and method of appointment by the C of I Electoral College. CNI will be commenting on this area later this week.
