Genes: dreams or nightmares?

Professor Norman Nevin at St Bartholomew’s, Belfast

“Genes: dreams or nightmares?” is the title of the next lunchtime lecture to be given at St. Bartholomew’s Church, Stranmillis Road, Belfast. The lecture will be given by Professor Norman Nevin, OBE.

Norman Nevin is professor emeritus of medical genetics at Queen’s University and an advisor to the government on gene therapies. In his distinguished career he has held various important posts including: Head of the Northern Regional Genetics Service, President of the UK Clinical Genetics Society, member of the Human Genetics Advisory Commission and of the subsequent Human Genetics Commission, member of the European Concerted Action for Congenital Abnormalities, Chairman of the UK Gene Therapy Advisory Committee (GTAC). In 2003 he received an OBE for his services to gene therapy.

He is also an elder and lay preacher at the Crescent Church in Belfast.

The lecture takes place at 1.10 p.m. on Tuesday March 1. Everyone is welcome at this lecture, which will include a time for questions. Light refreshments will also be available.
