Service marking 450 years Holyhead-Dublin, Archbishop’s Visit to Sunday School Society, Successful Christian Aid Fundraiser at Kilcornan

Service marking 450 years Holyhead-Dublin
A Service of Thanksgiving for 450 years of shipping from Holyhead to the Dublin area will be held in St Philip’s Church, Temple Road, Dartry, Dublin 6 at 3.00pm on Sunday, 10 July.

A reception will be held afterwards.

The service is being held in St Philip’s as over a century ago the staff of what is now Stena Line in the Dublin area, of all denominations, erected a stained glass in that church in memory of W G Skipworth, a popular Irish Traffic Manager. It depicts ‘The Good Samaritan’ and was the work of John Bishop Earley, a prominent Dublin artist of the time.

Archbishop’s Visit to Sunday School Society
Patron of the Sunday School Society, the Most Revd Dr Michael Jackson, Archbishop of Dublin and Bishop of Glendalough, visited the society’s resource centre in Holy Trinity Church, Rathmines and met with the committee – Dr Ken Milne, Hazel Bolton, Lynn Storey, the Revd Anne Taylor, Heather Wilkinson, the Revd Niall Sloane and Gillian Kohlmann.

Successful Christian Aid Fundraiser at Kilcornan

Rathkeale and Kilnaughtin Group of parishes in Limerick diocese held a very successful Treasure Hunt and Barbecue on Saturday June 25th at Kilcornan. Almost 100 people of all ages gathered to join in the fun. They were helped along by Andrew Coleman of Christian Aid and Bishop Trevor who is the Chair of Christian Aid Ireland.

People set off in the early evening and by the time everyone had arrived back safely (no-one got lost) the food was ready and the music had begun.

As well as food and music there was a wheel of fortune which contributed to the financial success of the evening. All told the event raised close to €1,000.

Well done to the Parish Discovery Team who planned and implemented this event and very many thanks to the businesses and individuals who donated prizes, time and energy to this very succesful event.
