Concert in Clogher Cathedral

TCD Chapel appointments
Margaret Bridge has been appointed as Conductor of Trinity College Dublin Chapel Choir for the 2011/2012 academic year.  Kevin O’Sullivan has been appointed Organ Scholar to the College. See Music, this site

Tribute to Billy Neely – The Belfast boy
In his youth, Billy Neely was a renowned boy soprano, known to many as the original Belfast Boy. Back in the 1940s, his voice thrilled many as he sang solo in St Anne’s Cathedral, and he later went on to take part in Children’s Hour broadcasts in the BBC Northern Ireland Home Service. Vocal coach for Armagh summer school
The world renowned vocal coach Paul Farrington will be returning to the Charles WoodsSummer School this year. Paul will be available for private tuition from Wednesday 24 to Friday 26 August, and will have vocal workshops on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 August. A number of participants will have the opportunity of performing in the Singers’ Concert on Saturday 27 August. There will also be an opportunity to observe Paul working with the Charles Wood Singers in an open rehearsal on Wednesday 24 August. Details of the Charles Woods Summer School’s daily programme will be posted later in the Music section.

Finaghy choir in Dublin
The Choir of St Polycarp’s, Finaghy will sing the services in Christ Church, Cathedral Dublin, this weekend, under their Director Simon Neill. The organist is Philip Stopford. See Music, this site for Christ Church August 2011 programme of services and concerts

The Mothers’ Union has launched its new online shop at www.mueshop.org. Last year, almost half the MU’s community development budget came from the profit on income generated by MUe.

You can buy just about anything, from books and cards to toys and games and jewellery and household items. All with just a click.

New features include a quick search box, the option to shipping to multiple addresses, wishlists, product comparisons, tracking orders through an accounts page, and the opportunity to create product reviews.
