Jerusalem link at Clogher Consecration
The Bishop of Jerusalem, The Rt Rev Suheil Dawani, will be the preacher at the Episcopal Ordination and Consecration of the Reverend John McDowell as Bishop  of Clogher in St Macartin’s Cathedral, Enniskillen on Friday, September 23, at 7.00pm.

The link between the diocese and the Holy Land has been strengthened through two diocesan pilgrimages, and a third is planned for this autumn.

Retirement of Chancellor of St Patrick’s Cathedral
The Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin has paid tribute to the Cathedral’s Chancellor, Canon Desmond Sinnamon, who has announced his forthcoming retirement.

Dean McCarthy writes, “A native of Strabane, Co. Tyrone, he was ordained in 1966 for the
curacy of Seapatrick (Banbridge) and then he was curate of Armagh for another 4
years, (those were the days!). Since 1983 he has served the parish of Taney which,
with 900 families, is the largest parish numerically in the Republic. There he has
trained a long line of curates, most of whom are devoted to him. He has also found
time to be a Diocesan Nominator and Rural Dean and in the wider church to
complete an M.Phil. degree in the Irish School of Ecumenics. He first joined the
Chapter in 1980 as Prebendary of Tipperkevin and he was appointed Treasurer and
Chancellor in 1991 and 1996 respectively by Dean Stewart. In all that time the
freshness and vigour of his sermons have been much admired. We wish we had
seen more of him in the Cathedral, but he has been a regular attender at the
Cathedral Board where his unvarying support has been much appreciated by the
present Dean.”
