A round up of clerical appointments, events, parish renewal etc

Connor institution
The Rev Elaine O’Brien, rector of Clogherny and Drumnakilly, Diocese of Armagh, has been appointed incumbent to the United Parishes of Whitehouse and St Ninian. The institution will take place on March 15.

Clogher appointments
The following appointments in Clogher were made recently. The Revd Rosemary Logue to be Rector of Kilskeery and Trillick. The Revd Noel Regan to be Rector of Clogher Cathedral Group. The Revd Arthur Barrett to be Diocesan Director of Ordinands.

Armagh Church re-hallowing
On Sunday past there were Services of Thanksgiving for the renovation of St Patrick’s church, Donaghmore, Co. Tyrone, where the rector is the Revd Peter Thompson. In the morning there was a Eucharist of Re-hallowing with Dedication of Gifts at which the celebrant and preacher was the Archbishop of Armagh, and in the evening the Bishop of Clogher preached at Evensong.

Derriaghy Parish Scout Group Celebrate
Jim Hilland, a former District Chairman of Lisburn District and member of 1st Derriaghy writes:- “2011 is a special year for 1st Derriaghy, formerly registered as 11th Belfast (South Belfast District) in 1911. The Group Leaders have many plans of celebration to mark “The Centenary Year” with the highlight being a summer camp in Belgium. This camp will also provide the opportunity to visit the grave of their first Scout Master, Lieutenant Edward Brown, 18th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in battle on the 7th August, 1917. Mervyn Fleming, the current Group Scout Leader (Tel: 9268 9839); Jim Hilland (Tel: 9266 4723) or Bruce Hilland (Tel: 9061 1565) would be pleased to hear form any former Derriaghy Group members.

Divine Healing Ministries
Current series each Monday until 28th February at 8.00 pm – Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. A series of talks by members of the team of Divine Healing Ministries in St. Anne’s Cathedral.

Dublin’s Black Santa presentation
On Sunday 13 February, local charities will be presented with cheques from the Black Santa Christmas Appeal at a reception at 12:15pm (following morning service) in St Ann’s Parish Centre, Dawson Street.
