Bishop Wallace Benn must resign: social services no confidence
BBC reports that social services in the UK have called for resignation of Bishop Wallace Benn.

Social care chiefs do not believe children’s safety is assured within services provided by the Diocese of Chichester, letters have revealed. BBC South East Today obtained copies of the letters from East Sussex County Council to the Archbishop of Canterbury under the Freedom of Information Act.

The correspondence called for the immediate suspension of the Bishop of Lewes, the Right Reverend Wallace Benn.
….

In their letter, they said: “We do not believe current arrangements within the diocese can assure the safety of children.”

“We remain convinced that insufficient attention is being paid to the ongoing and immediate safeguarding of children in Sussex.”

And the correspondence also revealed calls had been made for more than three months, for the immediate suspension of Bishop Benn.
….

The letter said: “We have no confidence in the judgement and conduct of Bishop Benn, in relation to dealing with safeguarding issues, and believe it is appalling that the Church seems reluctant to take decisive and immediate action.

“Bishop Benn faces serious questions of, at best, his competence to ensure children are protected, and at worst, his gross negligence in the face of serious allegations against staff he was responsible for.

Methodist Church looks to boost evangelism
The Methodist Church has launched a national consultation on evangelism.
Methodists across Britain will be asked what evangelism means to them and what they find challenging about it.

The online survey will ask them what they think it means to be called by God to share the Good News and what shape evangelism should take in 21st century Britain.

A consultation day will take place on 27 November at Methodist Church House in London, bringing together up to 80 Methodists from different contexts.

Nick Clegg’s ‘bigot’ slur tells you everything you need to know about liberals’ intolerance
By Cristina Odone, Telegraph – When Nick Clegg denounced opponents of same-sex marriage as “bigots” in a leaked speech, he was committing a classic “liberal”-ism. Anyone who disagrees with liberal mores is perforce a bigot. (The other default slur is a fascist, but that’s too explosive – even for Lib Demagogues.)

It doesn’t matter that Mr Clegg’s office quickly re-issued the speech, without the offending passage; or that he denied believing the words he’d penned (or his like-minded minions penned). The sentiment expressed in that revealing leak is at the heart of liberal thought today: only the liberal elite possesses the Truth. The rest are prejudiced fools fuelled by unworthy and outdated values. Worst of all, some of these values hail from – sin of all sins – religious principles.
