In a letter to the Dean of St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin which is published in the current issue of Close News, the Chancellor, Canon Desmond Sinnamon writes –
“As we have already discussed, you know that I have announced my retirement as
of 30th September 2011. My last duty in the Cathedral as Chancellor will be on
Sunday 31st July 2011 at Morning and Evening Services. I know that you will
approve of my resignation from the Chancellorship of St Patrick’s on that date,
July 31st.
“I have enjoyed my various positions in St Patrick’s, in the Prebendal Stall of
Tipperkevin whilst I was working in the Cathedral Group of Parishes as Vicar, as
Treasurer and as Chancellor. I have appreciated also the leadership of the three
Deans with whom I have worked, Dean Victor Griffin, Dean Maurice Stewart and
not least Dean Robert MacCarthy. I wish you continuing happiness and success as
you continue in your ministry as Dean and thank you for your courtesy to me at all
times.
“I look forward to keeping in touch in the future when time will allow more
freedom for all of us who have entered the ranks of ‘retirement’.
“With every good wish.”
Canon Sinnamon is Rector of Taney, Dublin.
