The Rev Tim Close, Canon Treasurer and Dean’s Vicar of Belfast Cathedral , has been appointed rector of All Saints, Eglantine which is near Lisburn.
A native of Carrickfergus he is is a graduate in social sciences of The Queen’s University, Belfast. He also obtained a Master’s degree in social sciences at the University of Leicester. He served as a senior social worker and team leader in Belfast prior to preparing for ordination at CITC and Trinity College, Dublin from which he also graduated.
He was ordained to serve as curate-assistant to the Venerable Archdeacon Gordon Linney in Glenageary Parish, Dublin. He then returned to Northern Ireland to St Anne’s, to serve as Dean’s Vicar with the Very Rev Dr Houston McKelvey.
Mr Close is married to Amanda who is a teacher. He is looking forward to meeting the community at Eglantine Parish and to the challenge of ministry in a more rural context.
His institution as rector of Eglantine will take place on Monday October 24 at 8pm.
