Church concern over fake vicars
Leader online – There is growing concern among church members in the area about people claiming to be Church of England vicars and carrying out “weddings” and “wedding blessings” when they are not officially recognized or qualified for the task. The politically correct only tolerate safe Christianity
Christianity Today – Opinion – Christians need to ask why politically correct leaders in Parliament and the media are backing Christian prayers in council meetings. The answer lies in a real practical distinction between hard and soft political correctness. Hard core PC activists, such as the National Secular Society which brought the High Court action against Bideford Town Council to get Christian prayers off the municipal agenda, want Christianity out of the public square. But moderates in politically correct terms are prepared to allow houseroom to the ‘faith sector’. They are therefore happy to allow Christian prayers in the council chamber and in Parliament.

Christians who hate Jews
Y net news – Op-ed: Church of England’s ongoing hostility to Israel and Zionism rooted in deep dislike for Jews. A few weeks ago a highly influential Church of England vicar, Stephen Sizer, promoted a website that supports Holocaust denial and warns of a Zionist conspiracy controlling the world. Reverend Sizer just received the support of the Bishop of Guildford Sizer, Reverend Christopher Hill, a former chaplain to the Queen, following calls for him to be suspended for linking to the site. Sizer used his Facebook page to link to the piece on American website The Ugly Truth, which claims to highlight “Zionism, Jewish extremism and a few other nasty items making our world uninhabitable today.” The site also runs cartoons of Holocaust deniers and supports Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The Bishop of Willesden was suspended in 2010 after using his Facebook page to make inappropriate gossip remarks about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. But in the face of such blatant anti-Jewish hatred, the Church of England took Sizer’s side.

England: number of RC seminarians doubled in past decade
Catholic Culture – The number of seminarians in England and Wales has increased from 26 to 51 since 2001. Father Christopher Jamison, director of the National Office for Vocation in London, attributes the rise to the formation of discernment groups. “It’s not about straightforward recruitment into the religious life. It’s about helping both men and women work out what’s right for them in their lives.”
