Irish Copts rally outside the Dáil

Coptic orthodox Christians rallied outside the Dáil yesterday seeking to highlight the plight of Christians in Egypt after 25 people were killed there last weekend.

They appealed to the Government to urge the Egyptian government to stop the persecution of Egyptian Christians and the burning of churches.

The group called on the Egyptian government to fully respect the rights of minorities and the freedom of worship.

Around 120 Copts turned out representing Copt churches in Wicklow, Tipperary, Westmeath, Belfast and Galway.

There are over 250 Copts families living across Ireland.
