Introduction Day to the Bible Society’s H+Course
A BACI Introduction Day to the Bible Society’s H+ (Basic Hermeneutics) Course will be held in the C of I Theological Institute in Dublin 6 on Saturday September 8th. It will run from 10am to 4pm that day and will be conducted by Dr Andrew Rogers, the designer / author of the course, which is sponsored by the UK BIble Society. The day is designed for potential leaders of the 10-week course).
Andrew Roger’s doctoral work was in a comparative study of how different church traditions read the Bible. This prompted him to write a beginners course in biblical interpretation (hermeneutics). The course takes scholarly insights and makes them accessible to the uninitiated. It also focuses on a number of virtues that have characterised faithful biblical reading through the history of the Church such as honesty, humility and courage. In this way, the course combines theory with practice. Not only do members of BACI believe that this sort of training will produce deeper engagement with the Bible, but they hope it will also develop Christians who are increasingly alert to the dynamics of interpretation.
Registration can be made by emailing BACI chairman, Rev Dr William Olhausen, at wolhausen@gmail.com or treasurer, Judy WIlkinson, at <judyw@natbibsoc.iol.ie>. Those attending the training day will need to have a certain amount of theological/biblical training, so they should ideally be clergy, lay readers or other suitably qualified lay members of the diocese. BACI hope is for every diocese to be represented so that these courses can begin to run across the Church of Ireland at a local level.

Tech-savvy priest reads tablet to celebrate iMass
Examiner – It’s hardly what God or Steve Jobs intended it for, and heaven knows what Fr Ted would have made of it, but Apple’s iconic iPad has produced it first iPriest.
A clued-in cleric based in Dundalk is using the iPad to celebrate Mass.
While Moses had the early form of tablet communication in the form of the 10 Commandments, Fr Paddy Rushe from the Redeemer parish in the Co Louth town thinks his iPad tablet is, well, God’s gift.
