Bishop of Derry condemns attempted attack
Bishop Ken Good stated – The whole community in our city is united in condemning the planned mortar attack in Londonderry, which was thwarted last night.
We simply refuse to be brought back to a time of division and violence. The vision of positive community cooperation and volunteerism for our common good that we saw in the city over this past weekend is the hope for the future that we choose.
Conference to look at the impact of porn
Porn Scars, a conference looking at the impact of pornography, will take place in Lisburn Cathedral in May.
The one day conference will be held on two dates, and is aimed at church leaders, youth leaders, parents and grand–parents. Participants must be aged 18 or over. Statistics show that 47 per cent of Year 11 (14 to 15–year–old) males access pornography at least weekly, 24 per cent daily The conference will delve into the truth about porn, its influence and impact and how one can respond positively – individually and together. George Cross presented to parish
An RUC George Cross has been presented to St Saviour’s, Connor, in recognition of all those who served the community from Kells Police Station.
The police station has now closed, and the presentation was made to St Saviour’s during the annual Remembrance Service for the Ulster Defence Regiment and Royal Irish Regiment Colours & Windows Association took place in the church. Mr Stephen Montgomery, Deputy Lieutenant of Co Antrim, and his wife attended the service, as did other Council Leaders from the various Council areas in County Antrim. The presentation was made by Mr James Leslie Ex RUC GC. The preacher at the service was the rector of St Saviour’s, Connor, the Rev Ian Magowan who was assisted during the service by the Rev Dr Paul Reid.
Elections confirmed by House Of Bishops
The House of Bishops of the Church of Ireland met during the week of 24 February 2013 and has confirmed the election of the following clergy to the Episcopal ministry of the Church of Ireland: The Venerable Leslie Thomas Clayton Stevenson to serve as Bishop of Meath and Kildare, The Reverend Samuel Ferran Glenfield to serve as Bishop of Kilmore Dates of consecrations will be announced in due course.
