Death of Archdeacon Philip Patterson; New Chair of C of I Press; Midleton College Students Win National ‘Milk-It’ Competition
Death of Archdeacon Philip Patterson
Yesterday the Bishop of Down and Dromore in a message on the diocesan web site stated – “Our beloved friend, Philip Patterson, died late last night in Knockbreda Rectory. Eleanor and all the family were gathered in their home, and Philip had the joy, in his last days, of holding his new grandson Toby in his arms.
“It is entirely impossible in the midst of our shock and grief, to make any immediate tribute to the full and profoundly Christian life of Philip Patterson, but what must simply be stated at this point is that I and the whole diocese will miss him more than any words could convey. Please hold the family, the parish and the diocese in your prayers. Christ is risen, and all in Christ are secure in his eternity!”

On behalf of members of the board, Mr Good paid tribute to Mr Pyle’s service to the company, particularly his contribution as chairman, and presented him with tokens of the board’s appreciation.
Mr Auchmuty added that the company owed Mr Pyle “a great debt of gratitude for the wise counsel that he has given to our work over many years, first as board member and then as chairman.”
Mr Auchmuty also paid tribute to David’s wife Mary Ena.
The new chairman has been a member of the board for 10 years, 5 of which have been spent as honorary secretary.
