Last away gig

The final lecture in the Disestablishment 150 series at Christchurch Cathedral, Dublin, was given by Archbishop Richard Clarke. It was his last “away gig” before he retires on Sunday. Wishing him a long, happy and healthy retirement.

A great feed in Dungiven

Photo above – The Dungiven and Feeny committee which has raised over 375,000 for Cancer Research UK over the years.

In the summer of 1993 the Dungiven and Feeny local committee started their fundraising for Cancer Research UK. Since then the committee has gone from strength to strength raising extraordinary amounts of money to help beat cancer sooner.

They have in total now raised £378,639.27. Many in the local community and surrounding areas have come to support the group and take part in activities such as the very memorable Glenshane lorry pull.

The committee continue to raise those all important funds to improve the lives of the people of Northern Ireland and across the globe and very much appreciate the continued support that they receive from the public. Their infamous ‘Big Breakfast’ is taking place on Saturday March 7 in the Church of Ireland Parish Hall, Upper Main Street Dungiven. All are encourage to come along for a great ‘feed’, plenty of fun and of course doing your bit to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

Armagh Year of Prayer and Reflection

Played organ in Carrigallen C of I for over 60 years

Fay Rosemond (nee Scott), Bali Hai, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim passed away peacefully on January 3, 2020 at Glebe House Nursing Home, Kilternan Co Dublin.

Fay was 91 last June and up until recently was out and about daily.

Fay grew up in Arva, the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Scott. She was loving sister to Joy, Maud, Basil and Mignone and the late Violet, Robert and Joan.

Fay excelled at Piano and was taught Organ in Cavan Church of Ireland.

Fay married Georgie Rosemond in 1959 and moved to Carrigallen, Co Leitrim. Unfortunately Georgie developed Rheumatoid Arthritis in his early 40s and was unable to work. Fay cared entirely for Georgie for his many remaining years.

During this time Fay worked extremely hard and maintained the farm and continued to teach piano in the evenings in Carigallen and each Saturday in Arva, from her home place.

Fay also played the Organ in Carrigallen Church of Ireland for over 60 years and maintained a large choir that produced many fine anthems and musical praise.

Fay was a perfectionist and very hard worker not least in her beautiful garden. She was constantly maintaining and changing her garden and had a natural gift for of gardening.

Fay had a lot of friends old and new and was highly respected. Fay visited her brothers and sisters almost daily where she would help out in any way she could in her own quiet way.

Fay will be dearly missed by young and old but not forgotten.

Sadly missed by her children, Charlotte, Joy and Maeve, grandchildren, Ronán, Gráinne, Eimear, Alice, James, Hannah and Ryan, sons-in-law, Diarmuid and Sang, brother Basil and sisters Joy, Maud and Mignone.

Funeral service took place in Carrigallen Parish Church on Sunday, January 5, followed by burial in the adjoining churchyard.
