CL& CGB tribute to former leader

The CL & CGB has paid tribute to Mr Bertie Brown of St. Hilda’s, Seymour Hill – “Bertie was one of the founding officers of St Hilda’s company, all those years ago. A great leader and ardent supporter and friend of the Company and the Brigade in general he will be immensely missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.

“Only 2 weeks ago Bertie honoured the company by his presence at the 60th anniversary service in St Hilda’s. Afterwards he made a fine speech and went on to cut the celebratory cake.

“Bertie was committed to the Brigade all of his life, whether leading on an evening, attending events or giving just a quiet word of encouragement. Always loving with a bright, friendly personality. Willing to share a joke or give sound advice. The members of St.Hilda’s CL & CGB company extended their deepest sympathies and condolences to Heather, June and Robert and the extended family.” The funeral took place from St Hilda’s on Sunday to Broomhedge churchyard.
