Zechariah 14:20 On that day there shall be inscribed on the bells of the horses, “Holy to the Lord.” And the cooking pots in the house of the Lord shall be as holy as the bowls in front of the altar.
There was a day last summer that was one of my best days ever. I stood on the uneven floor of my wonky little kitchen in our funny old farmhouse and made fresh salsa out of vegetables from our own backyard. We ate that salsa on eggs from our very own hens. That kitchen magic was done with holy, matrimonial pots and pans from my aunt and uncle and beloved mixing bowls given to me as part of a graduation gift from my momma.
After four and a half years, four houses in three states, the financial realities familiar to so many other Gen Xers, and a dream we’d been dreaming since we first fell in love, we were living out big portions of that hope. And I danced around that kitchen with joy and thanksgiving in my heart.
