Today’s thought is by John Wesley
Thanksgiving is inseparable from true prayer; it is almost essentially connected with it. One who always prays is ever giving praise, whether in ease or pain, both for prosperity and for the greatest adversity. He blesses God for all things, looks on them as coming from Him, and receives them for His sake- not choosing nor refusing, liking or disliking, anything, but only as it is agreeable or disagreeable to His perfect will.
– John Wesley
We pray for those stranded on one side of the chasm, unable to move forward because of doubt, lack of trust or unbelief. Grant us the patience and empathy to stay with them until they feel able to cross. And as we wait, help us not to judge them but to examine honestly the things that also hold us back. Lord Jesus, as you reach out to us, grant us the belief and confidence to make the leap of faith towards the life to which you call us. Amen.
