A modern Welsh version of the Gospel of Mark has just been published.
It’s part of a translation of the whole New Testament intended for the Internet. But it’s proved so popular that it’s been published in print.
Gwilym Jeffs, 20, was one of the first to get his hands on a copy. He said, ‘I think it’s brilliant. I know a lot of people my age and younger struggle to understand a lot of the Bible in the old Welsh.

‘It’s been a long time coming, but it’s good that it’s here.’
Translator, Arfon Jones, spent 15 years working on the project. He said, ‘I became convinced that there was a need for a more colloquial translation. Young people tend to learn spoken Welsh rather than literary Welsh.’
The whole New Testament is now available online and as an app for iPhones and the Android systems.
