Heather Elliott (53) has spent more than a week in Cork University Hospital since she was rushed there with five other survivors following the tragedy at Cork Airport on February 10. Heather was the only woman on board the ill-fated Manx2 plane that crashed.

Four other passengers, as well as the pilot and first officer, were killed when the 19-seater Fairchild Metroliner turbo-prop crashed on landing in thick fog.

The plane’s right wing is believed to have hit the runway, flipping the plane over onto its back before sliding into thick mud at the side of the runway.

Heather, a native of Kinsale, had been travelling from Belfast to visit her mother Roma.

She suffered fractures to her ribs and pelvis, as well as having back injuries, and also had to have her gall bladder removed in emergency surgery.
