MU survivor’s nightmare of Cork plane crash

The Sunday Life reports today on MU Enrolling member

One of the survivors of the horrific plane crash that killed six people has been so haunted by the tragedy that she cannot sleep.

Belfast-based mother-of-three Heather Elliott had caught the doomed flight on Thursday morning to visit her elderly mother for the weekend in Kinsale, Co Cork. (See earlier CNI report – Heather is the Enrolling Member of Knockbreda Parish Branch of the MU. She was en route to visit her mother in Cork diocese. Her late father was a rector in the diocese).

And in his first interview yesterday her brother David Peare said that his sister has been suffering nightmares over her ordeal.

He revealed: “Heather’s an extremely strong woman, but she’s had difficulty sleeping.
“She was fully conscious throughout the flight and remembers everything. But she’s still very shaken and it will take some time for her to recover from this.”

CNI understands that the husband of another MU member, a colleague of Captain Mike Gibson of Belfast Harbour who was killed in the crash, had travelled to Cork the previous evening and was due to meet with him n business.
