ACNS – There’s a chance to make a difference to development in the Pacific as the Anglican Alliance facilitator based at the Anglican Church of Melanesia in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
Food climate change and youth empowerment will be the focus for the new post which will work with Anglican churches and their partners across the Pacific region to bring together development, relief and advocacy. It’s a position for someone with drive, commitment and ability to be part of the global network supporting the work by Anglican churches to challenge and transform poverty and injustice.
Food, climate change and youth empowerment were identified as three priorities for the Pacific region, and will be especially important for the new position.

The Anglican Alliance brings together the family of Anglican churches and agencies worldwide. At the Alliance consultation in Honiara last year, there was agreement that the region wanted a facilitator to help scale up the development , relief and advocacy work.
The Pacific facilitator will work with the provinces, diocese and agencies in Aotearoa, new Zealand, Australia, Melanesia, Polynesia and Papua new Guinea. The post holder will, during the first year, get particular training and support before taking on some of the more challenging aspects of the position.
The facilitator will be located in Honiara, Solomon Islands, and employed by the Anglican Alliance on a fixed term contract with the Anglican Church of Melanesia being managing agent.
This is the third post for a regional facilitator for the Anglican Alliance. The Africa facilitator has been in post since last year, and is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and the search is still on for a facilitator for Latin America and the Caribbean, to be based in Brazil.
