Canadian Anglican and United churches renew dialogue
ENI – The Anglican Church of Canada in May entered a new round of dialogue with the United Church of Canada, aiming to explore ways in which the two churches can work together for more effective ministry and mission

Nuns Fight Back Against Vatican Report

Cuban church leaders appeal to US over religious freedom

ASSIST News Service – A delegation of Cuban church leaders has called on the US government to add Cuba to its Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) list as one of the world’s worst violators of religious freedom. The delegation, hosted by Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW), last week briefed members of Congress and US government officials in Washington DC on the sharp rise in religious freedom violations in Cuba. Former prisoner of conscience and denominational leader Rev Carlos Lamelas, and his wife Uramis, were among the church leaders who briefed the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus and Commissioners from the United States Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCRIF).

World Council of Churches to hold first meeting in China
ACNS/ENI – The Geneva-based World Council of Churches (WCC) said it will hold its first meeting in the People’s Republic of China, focusing on “the unique situation of Chinese churches and ecumenical relations” in the region.

Student Christian leadership group sets action plan
ENI – The Geneva-based World Student Christian Federation’s (WSCF) executive committee, meeting in Berlin from 20 to 27 May, approved a “bold advocacy, prayer, theological reflection, and communications agenda for 2012-2014,” according to a communique released by the WSCF.
